Be Stubborn On Your Vision, Flexible On The Details

As we usher in this new year, I want to share a reflection that has guided me through my entrepreneurial journey. Founders and entrepreneurs often walk a fine line between unwavering belief in their vision and the need to adapt to ever-changing circumstances.

This balance is not only essential but often determines whether you thrive or stall in your pursuit of success.

In all my years scaling and running companies, one thing remains crystal clear: hold on tight to your big idea, but be ready to bend on how you get there.

Your Vision Is Your North Star

Your vision is the reason you started. It’s the driving force behind every sleepless night, every risk taken, and every challenge faced. But the road to realizing that vision is rarely a straight line. Instead, it’s a winding path filled with obstacles, detours, and unforeseen circumstances.

What sets resilient entrepreneurs apart is their ability to stay stubborn about the destination while being flexible with the route.

Adaptability Is Your Greatest Strength

If something isn’t working, don’t question the validity of your vision—question your process.
Does your product need a pivot? Does your marketing strategy require rethinking? Are you using the right tools or collaborating with the right people? Adjusting the “how” doesn’t mean abandoning the “why.”

For example, in my own ventures, there have been times when I felt stuck. A business strategy that seemed foolproof would fail to deliver the expected results.

In such moments, the easy route would have been to lose faith in the vision. But each time, by tweaking the process—rethinking strategies, bringing in new talent, or investing in technology—the vision stayed intact, and progress resumed.

Practical Steps for the New Year

1.     Reflect on Your Vision: Take a moment to reconnect with your ultimate goal. What impact do you want your business to have?

2.     Evaluate Processes: Look at what worked last year and what didn’t. Where can you pivot, innovate, or simplify?

3.     Stay Open-Minded: Embrace new tools, ideas, and methods. Growth often lies outside your comfort zone.

4.     Seek Feedback: Surround yourself with trusted advisors or a mentor who can offer constructive insights on your journey.

5.     Stay Resilient: Challenges will come, but they are opportunities in disguise. A flexible approach will help you navigate through them without compromising your ultimate vision.

Make It Happen

As founders and entrepreneurs, our path is not easy, but it’s one of purpose and fulfillment. This year, I challenge you to be stubborn where it counts and adaptable when it matters.

Remember, success is not about clinging to a single plan; it’s about relentlessly pursuing the vision while finding the best ways to get there.

Here’s to a year of resilience, innovation, and realizing the dreams that set us on this journey.
